It’s been one week since I taught my first White Belt of 2015. It’s been a week of reflection and integration.
The small group of seven (six new trainees plus one re-sit) still stay with me in my aura. I am acutely aware of their energy and the transformation that is under way as they step back into their regular busy lives.
There were so many wonderful moments over the six days which blew me away. The one that sticks out the most happened on Day 4 where one of the trainees shared the words of the Awareness Principal number 5 (from Day 2) – the steps to managing pain in the body: Awareness (to pay attention), Stimulation (of the joints), for Self-Healing. She had already applied this Principal in her life and was able to share it with the group; how wonderful to witness this!
The levels of Body Awareness of this group was high, as was their willingness to explore and delve into themselves. I find it to be such an inspiration that most people doing the White Belt are so prepared to jump right in and be dedicated students of their bodies.
Through my own personal delving into the White Belt Principals after having done so last in late 2014, and in between having re-sat the first mammoth Brown Belt in South Africa, it felt great to be in the White Belt “saddle” again.
I learnt a lot about managing my own personal “battery” in the space and at home, and have come away feeling like I’ve deepened my relationship with my inner self.
I remember one of the First Generation Trainers saying “Your life will be different with becoming a Trainer”. I know these words to be true as I observe the places of discomfort in my life transmute in the “fire” of the deepening practices of White Belt and the inner resources I have to tap into to hold the space for my trainees.
I am grateful for my bravery and willingness to be a beginner as a White Belt Trainer from 2012. I recall how much discomfort I had to go through to become a more masterful Nia teacher over the years as I went through all the Belts (Blue, Brown, Black and Green). I know at what stage I am at in mastering and crafting with teaching the White Belt, and I sense how much more creativity is still within me, ready to come out and play.
My big wish is that I give all the trainees permission to enjoy that “happy beginning phase” as they emerge and venture into teaching Nia or remain Nia ambassadors until they might feel ready to step into teaching.
My biggest and proudest “Big Mamma” moments happen during Principal 13 when I watch the trainees step into the last session using the microphone on their own. I love that they all take the opportunity to do so, and that they forward-track their cells to a place that actually happens one day into front of their own class. The power of Self-Actualising.
I am eternally grateful to these brave souls who cast their fears away to be in vulnerable and new places, and I will always remember the absolute privilege it is for me to hold this space.
Thank you for trusting me…..
